OHSAS 18001 is now counted among the standards of the port safety system.

The last quarter of 2008, the Argentine Institute of Standarization and Certification (IRAM) audited and certified the CGPBB for OHSAS 18001 in relation to Management Systems of Safety at Work (SGSST).
OHSAS 18001 was devised to help companies develop policies and lay down procedures and management systems to keep safety and health conditions continuously updated.
The laying down of procedures to minimize the risk for staff and facilities, the observance of work requirements, the improvement of business performance and the creation of a good working atmosphere is among the number of benefits of this last certification.
The CGPBB, as port authority in charge of the management and exploitation of the Bahía Blanca port complex, is once more committed, according to the international standing regulations, to ensure the quality improvement of the services rendered. At present the standarization of ISO 9000 – “Quality Management Systems” and of ISO 14000 – “Environment Management” are at the implementation stage.
