Assistance from Adefrance

The economic group in charge of the project embarked on the diagnosis stage.

Last November 24th, eight French experts arrived in Bahía Blanca to begin with the first diagnosis stage of “The New Urban and Logistics Dimension of Towns” within the framework of the technical cooperation agreement signed last April among the Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Bahía Blanca, the Bahía Blanca Town Hall and Gie ADEFRANCE.

Bahía Blanca´s municipal and port authorities intend to outline an urban and environmental programme for land reclamation and the integrated development of the sea front between town and port. The programme started with the organization of workshops on different subjects where the most significant challenge is to cooperate in order to increase the town-port potential, taking into account the future port perspectives in coming decades and the intensive search for new principles of town and port spatial organization.

Gie ADEFRANCE is an economic group financed by the French Ministry of Economic Affairs composed of the main actors of the French urban development. It was established in March 1984 and its purpose is to share methods and knowledge for land reclamation, the development of business centres and territorial action programmes. In Argentina they participated in the remodelling project of Puerto Madero in 1995 and in the support of the viability of a multimodal logistics platform in Rosario in the year 2000.

The most remarkable members of Adefrance are Chantall Guillet as Project Coordinator, Daniel Boudouin and Francois-Mechel Lambert in Ports Logistics, Michel Fanni, Francois Kern and Georges Demouchy in Landscape and Environment and Natalie Pauliac in Economic and Social Monitoring.

Coordination at a local level is in charge of J.D. Jorge S. Otharán as President of the Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Bahía Blanca and Architec Roxana Vecchi as representative of the municipal government. Technical staff of this Port Authority have also offered their support: Surveyor Luis Arecco, Eng. Carlos Ginés and Mr. Jorge de Mendonca. Different areas of the local Town Hall administration such as the Urban Planning Office, the International Affairs Agency, the Urban Promotion Agency, the Development Agency, the Land and Housing Register have also offered their assistance together with the UNS (Southern National University) and the UTN (National Technological University).
