The Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Bahía Blanca, together with the Bolsa de Cereales ( Grain Stock ), supporting a project from Proyección Comunicaciones de Marketing, a market research consultancy, launched the educational project known as Port and Agro-Industry Tales last September.
At first, thirty schools from Bahía Blanca and the neighbouring area approached this resourceful educational experience which invo lves 5 different stories, under the appearance of comics, related to agricultural production, storing processes, conditioning, trade, inland transport and shipping to international markets. The characters talk to the different leading players of the commercial and logistics chain letting pupils know and recognize the importance of these activities in the local and national economy. The idea is to shorten the breach among the port, the city and the region.
The teachers involved in the project were trained by the education expert Andrea Montano, one of the persons in charge of the project, who participated in the development of the information handed out during the course. The teaching aids used were of a significant visual impact and a close relationship between text-image. Only the teachers were trained who imparted afterwards the knowledge gained to their pupils in the classroom.
Port and Agro-Industry Tales was reported of Municipal interest by the local Town Council due to its multidisciplinary and ample covering nature. This proposal intends, on the one hand, to adjust the lack of teaching aids and enlarge information related to the regional agricultural production and, on the other, to encourage vocations related to the interests of our region.
At the end of the training programme, which also included a series of tours to the hosts´ facilities, the pupils answered a questionnaire on the subject and participated from a ruffle that awarded a computer to the pupil and the teacher of the winning school. |
